Our Hub

Focusing on Smart Specialization and ERDF Specific Objective 1.2, SESS aims to overcome many of the barriers which often make it difficult for companies to engage in R&D activities.

Our Goals

The Smart Energy Storage Solutions Hub has obtained funding from the 2014-2020 Structural Funds Programme under the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF P1 SO2: To increase the successful translation of research and innovation processes into new and improved commercial products, processes and services, in particular through improved technology transfer from HEIs.

Our Challenges

Many companies need a helping hand when it comes to emerging technologies. SESS is perfectly aligned to support R&D activity in this field, having an in-depth knowledge in the area of battery and energy storage.

SESS Established

SESS was established as a collaborative innovation and R&D operation, giving large, medium and small enterprises within the West Wales and the Valleys region access to leading academic knowledge and research facilities. It will be demand led by companies, researching and piloting new innovative technologies, products and processes, specifically in electrical energy storage, with strong post operation commercial potential. SESS will address the need to drive research activity and innovation within industry in Wales, to maximise the contribution of Welsh businesses to the economy.
